Waxing
Waxing is a part of the beauty regimen that many people
follow. While it is mostly something women experience in order to shape
their eyebrows and remove excess hair from their faces and bodies, there
are a large number of men that also wax their hair. It is never a pleasant
process, but it is considered to be important to millions of men and
women who undergo waxing many times a year.
The waxing process involves covering the hair to be removed with wax
that is usually warm to be most pliable. A thin layer is placed on the
skin, covering the hairs and cooling for a moment before adding a strip
of cloth that will stick to the wax. The next step is the most painful,
as the cloth is then pulled quickly, ripping the hair out of the skin,
right down to its roots. After the hair has been removed, soothing lotions
are rubbed on the skin to reduce irritation and attempt to mitigate
the pain.
Waxing is considered to be a necessary evil by many societies. The social
movement in the past decades has changed to make less and less hair
acceptable on bodies. As a result, alternatives to waxing and shaving
have been developed such as laser hair removal.
